Obituary for Dolly Minshew Ellis

Dolly M. Ellis
September 20, 1942 - May 31, 2017
Snow Hill-Dolly Mae Minshew Ellis,74, of Snow Hill, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Dolly was born on September 20, 1942 in Wayne County to the late Hubert and Lucille Sullivan Minshew. She was married for 55 years to the late Billy Carr Ellis. Dolly had worked with Barry Manufacturing in Goldsboro and was a graduate of cosmetology school. She had also received certification as a nursing assistant. Dolly was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Dolly will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife, mother, granny, sister and a friend to all. So too will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul, and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others. Family was paramount to Dolly, and she loved nothing more than her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our Savior, Jesus Christ. Dolly will be sorely missed here on earth, but we take solace in the fact that she has now rejoined the love of her life, her Billy!
A service to celebrate and honor Dollys life will be held Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 3 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Dolly is survived by four children, Connie Ellis and fiancee, Ray of Goldsboro, Ricky Ellis and wife, Amanda of La Grange, Rita Hare and husband, Tommy of Goldsboro and Ronnie Ellis and wife, Kim of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Ashley Tillman and husband, Jason, Jessy Hill and husband, Devin, Kimmy Tillman and husband, Josh, Brittani Ellis Coley and husband, Justin, Cassie Howell, Bailee Ellis, Chris Manning and fiance, Eden Nethercutt, Danielle Barnes and husband, Anderson and Brooke Jones and husband, Stephen, Derek Hare and wife, Kristina, Brian Hare and wife, Gingerleigh, Chasity Lynch and husband Patrick; great-grandchildren, Haley Tetterton, Payton Hill, Riley Sanifort, Bentley Tillman, Harper Tillman, Emma Barnes, Sophia Barnes, Ethan Hare, Annah Hare, Bree Hare, Brayln Hare, Belle Hare, Hunter Hare, Grayson Lynch and Jackson Lynch. She is also survived by her sisters, Pauline Strickland and husband Buddy, Eula Faucette and husband Kenneth, and Barbara Hoover; brothers, Walter Minshew and wife Mary, Hubert (June Bug) Minshew, and Clay Minshew; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
