Obituary for Rylee Scott Miller

Rylee Scott “The Kid” Miller, 15, of La Grange, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018. Rylee was born October 17, 2002 to Jason Scott Miller and Tiffany Taylor Miller.

Rylee was the spitting image of his mama, but was all-boy like his daddy. He was raised to be loving and generous, and would give you the shirt off his back. He took pleasure in helping others and had the warmest, most welcoming smile. Rylee never met a stranger and always enjoyed good conversations with young and old alike. With Rylee, though, what came up came out.

From the time Rylee was a small boy he had a great love of baseball. He played for various teams over the years and made many good friends. For Rylee, baseball was life. When baseball season ended, he enjoyed keeping up with the UNC Tarheels and the Golden State Warriors. If you needed to know a sports stat, Rylee was your man.

Just like his daddy, Rylee was passionate about anything with a motor. Growing up in the garage, chances are if he saw a car he could tell you everything about it. Rylee was all about demolition derby cars and he affectionately referred to each of his cars as “Betty.” If four-wheelers or dirt bikes were involved, so was Rylee. The perfect Saturday night for Rylee was a good race at the Southern National Speedway. Some of his favorite times were spent outside sitting in his truck, cell phone in hand, with the music blaring. For him, the louder, the better.

There was no better big brother than Rylee. He was not only Walker’s brother, but his best friend. They enjoyed spending time together no matter what they were doing. Video games were commonplace, and they could spend hours playing Grand Theft Auto, Fortnite, and, of course, all of their sports favorites. The boys delighted in time shared outside, especially when a fishing pole was in hand. Walker will always remember tight hugs from his big brother and the most precious words spoken, “I love you.”

Rylee walked into our lives and left his footprint on our hearts. He will be deeply and sorely missed by those who knew him.

A service to celebrate Rylee’s life will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Rylee is survived by his little brother, Walker Miller; maternal grandparents, Teresa and Eddie Howell and Tony R. Taylor; paternal grandparents, Connie and Keith Radford, and Danny Jarman; maternal great-grandparents, Ed Howell and Ed Wade; aunt and uncles, David and Tammy Mooring, and Travis and Megan Taylor; a special cousin Rylee thought of as a brother, Aaron Scott Miller; Rylee’s girlfriend, Sydney Chastain; cousin, Ally Taylor; special family friends, Jennifer and Michael Shafer, and their children, Michael and Ethan, and Kenneth “Little Man” Faulkner, III. Rylee was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gordon Keith “Papa” Radford; and great-grandparents, Ella Frances Wiggins, Joyce and Clifton Taylor, Bobbie Howell, and Eleanor Wade.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 5-7:30 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
