Obituary for Betty Tyndall Howard

Betty Howard
November 14, 1937-October 2, 2019

Kinston-Betty Tyndall Howard, 81, peacefully departed this life and was welcomed into heaven's gates on October 2, 2019. Betty's earthly journey had a most unique beginning, as she was born on November 14, 1937, to the late Willie Tyndall and Rosa Stocks Tyndall on a train. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Elwood Howard and Tom Colie.

Mrs. Betty had the most loving and gentle soul. Her compassion and care for others was shown in all she did. A fine Christian lady, Betty loved her church family and her pastor. She was a member of the Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she faithfully served and worshiped her Savior.

Betty was a "mama's mama." She was the epitome of what every mother strives to be. She was strict and the children never had to wonder where they stood with her. However, she was loving and always made time for her babies. Though there were times when things were tough, her family was always rich in love.

No one could match Betty's southern cooking. A typical meal at her house would never consist of one item, but of all the family favorites. Her fried chicken and chicken pastry were absolutely unmatched. Her perfectly seasoned collards, homemade biscuits, and delicious desserts will always be in the minds and memories of everyone who ate at her table. There will never be a sweet potato pie, lemon pie, or chocolate delight that could compare to Mrs. Betty's.

Gifted and talented in so many ways, Betty shared her creativity with the world through her many arts and crafts. From decorating her home to the many hair styles she created as a beautician, Betty had a niche for expressing good design. Whether cutting and styling hair or working in her beautiful flower garden, she kept herself busy at all times.

A service to remember Betty's life will be held Friday, October 4, 2019, at 7 PM at Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church. A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the service. Entombment will take place at Pinelawn Memorial Park on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 11 AM.

Betty is survived by her six children, Marilyn Alexander, Diane Quinn and husband, Dan, Laverne Duggins, Donald Howard and wife, Tammy, Connie Storie, and Kim Howard and wife, Angie; eleven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 711 Phillips Road, Kinston, NC 28504, or Kitty Asking Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
