Obituary for Donna Harrison Hardy

Donna H. Hardy
January 29, 1960-June, 17, 2019

Seven Springs-Donna Harrison Hardy received her eternal healing on Monday, June 17, 2019. Donna was born in Lenoir County on January 29, 1960, to Clifton and Joyce Parrish Harrison.

Blessed with so many talents, Donna creatively expressed her gifts through art, dance, and music. She drew many cartoons that went on to be published and syndicated. With a keen eye, she captured stunning photographs as well. Her skills as a photographer were utilized by the Kinston Free Press in 1999, when Donna shared her captivating photos of the effects of Hurricane Floyd. Donna enjoyed clogging and taught others. The dancing she loved best, though, was always with her husband, Warren. Playing the fiddle and bluegrass music brought much joy to her heart.

As a member of Union Baptist Church, Donna, along with her husband, loved to worship in singing. With a beautiful alto voice, she and Warren sang their praises to God in harmony. Donna was always eager to share her testimony with anyone who would listen. Her deeply rooted faith in the Lord carried her through life’s most difficult times.

A nurturer at heart, Donna appreciated and cared for all of nature. She tended to her flowers and her animals with pleasure. The time she spent outdoors was cherished and she always made the most of it. She most enjoyed birdwatching and riding horses with Warren and the kids. Donna loved horses from the time she was a girl, and there wasn’t anything better than saddling up and riding at home or through the mountains.

Donna enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She was rather ingenious and could figure out how to fix just about anything, especially in the way of technology. Going shopping for antiques was near the top of her list of hobbies. She kept an eye open for Fenton glass, which she adored. From antique shopping to clogging, wherever Donna was and whatever she was doing, she always gave 110 percent. Some of her fondest memories were made during her many adventures with her lifelong best friend, Karen Flowers.

There was nothing that Donna loved more than her family. She was the rock and champion for her family and her life revolved around them. Sometimes referred to as “The Dragon” by her husband and children, Donna was fierce and passionate with an intense inner-strength. She always had their backs and was quick to come to their defense. Though she was tough, she was caring. Donna was always an advocate for fairness. She was deeply sympathetic toward family and friends, and especially the underdog. Donna left the world a far better place than she found it.

A service to remember and celebrate Donna’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Rouse Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

In addition to her parents, Donna is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 36 years, Warren Hardy; three children, Christin Hardy, Connor Gray Hardy Potter and husband, Ethan, and Justin Warren Hardy; three sisters, Kim Hipkiss, Lisa Davis, and Kathy Korzekwinski; father-in-law, Sylvan Hardy; nieces and nephews, Ashley Kennamer and husband, John, Cassidy Hipkiss, Eve Korzekwinski, Harrison Korzekwinski, and Rose Korzekwinski; and her precious grand-dog, Panda.
