Obituary for Heather Faye West

Heather Faye West
November 19, 1989-May 28, 2019

Kinston-Heather “Faye” West, 29, of Kinston, passed away May 28, 2019. Faye was the second of three children born to Lewis and Barbara West. She was preceded in death by her father and her beloved cat, Sting.

Faye had a beautiful, old soul. She understood love on a deeper level than most and believed that everyone deserved to be shown love in some way. Her sincere compassion and generosity endeared her to friends and family alike. Even into adulthood, Faye maintained a sense of innocence and pure motivation. She always looked for the best in others.

Video games and music were Faye’s outlet. She would play “Kingdom Hearts”, “Assassin’s Creed”, or “Gears of War” for hours. “Guitar Hero” was probably her favorite. Faye had mastered the game but would freely express her disappointment when the “game” made a mistake. She would listen to artists like Eminem, ICP, and Disturb while she expressed her creative side through drawing. Faye could free-hand just about anything to perfection.

With the typical “middle child syndrome”, Faye was always a little bit sneaky and knew how to stay out of trouble. Her mom recalls that even as a toddler she could manipulate her brother into taking the blame. As a child, Faye was quite the trickster and managed to get her siblings in trouble for things that she had done herself. She was by all definitions a “daddy’s girl” and usually got her way if he was around. Independent, strong-willed, and a little bit stubborn, Faye was determined to succeed at everything she did. Faye was the only child of the three to graduate from high school, and her parents and siblings were so proud of her for her hard work. Faye’s smile, laughter, and overall zest for life will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

Faye is survived by her mother, Barbara Hall West; her siblings, Amy West, Lewis “Tiny” West, Jr. (Melissa Taylor), and Logan West; nephew, Wyatt West; Grandmother, Ann Avery; Aunts, Donna Tyndall and Ruby Daughtey; and uncle, Paul West.

Memorial contributions may be made in Faye’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA. 22202, or by visiting Faye struggled with juvenile diabetes for many years, and her hope was that others with this diagnosis wouldn’t have to face it alone.
