Obituary for Jack Gwynn Westbrook

Jack G. Westbrook
May 23, 1964-April 22, 2019

La Grange-Jack Gwynn Westbrook, 54, passed away April 22, 2019. Jack was born in Lenoir County to the late Douglas Gwynn Westbrook and Susan Marie Stanley Westbrook on May 23, 1964.

If you knew Jack, you knew he was a handful. Fun-loving and the life of the party, Jack enjoyed cuttin’ up and picking at everyone around him. He was adamant that he would have the last word and wouldn’t stop until it was his. When he walked into a room he usually knew most folks in it. Whether it was the local grocery store or King’s Dominion theme park, Jack would always find a familiar face and a way to strike up a conversation. He had never met a stranger. His charming smile won over everyone he met.

Fresh water fishing was Jack’s way to unwind. Casting a line and hooking a fish seemed to bring him pleasure and peace. Nothing gave Jack a thrill like a motorcycle, though. He was a daredevil and determined to push the limits. You never told Jack what he couldn’t do, because he would do all he could to prove you wrong. He lived by the “do it or die” motto.

In his earlier years, Jack was an exceptional carpenter. Whether framing a house or remodeling an older home, Jack expressed his craftsmanship in all he did. He put his artistic creativity to use by building yard furniture, decks, and corn hole boards. He was a hard worker and there wasn’t much Jack couldn’t build.

Though Jack was an identical twin, he was one of a kind. He and his brothers and sister always had each other’s back and looked out for one another. The love between the four was boundless, looking past all faults and into the goodness of each one’s heart. Jack was father to five children, and he loved his role as “Papa Jack” to his grandchildren.

Jack is survived by five children, Jeremy Westbrook and wife, Ashley, Ashleigh W. Seibert and husband, Liam, Jack Cory Westbrook, Stormy Westbrook, and Emma Westbrook; two grandchildren, Alaina Westbrook and Bodhi Seibert, and expecting a third grandchild, Cruz, just any day; three siblings, Jerry Westbrook, Amanda W. Killette (Brian), and Ray Singer (Debra); as well as nieces and nephews, Christopher Singer, Mahala K. Shields, Zoie S. Lancaster, Steven Westbrook, and Sam Westbrook.

Family will receive friends at the Killette home. A time to remember Jack's life will be held privately. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
