Obituary for Linda Sugg Wallace

Linda Wallace
April 2, 1943-August 20, 2019

Snow Hill-In the late hours of August 20, 2019, Linda Sugg Wallace quietly and peacefully passed away from this life and into eternity. Linda was born in Lenoir County to the late Luther West Sugg and Ruth Rouse Sugg on April 2, 1943. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ruth Wallace.

There has never been a more giving soul than that of Linda. She always placed the needs of others ahead of her own and was generous to a fault. Her favorite time of year was the Christmas season, and likely because it gave her the opportunity to share so much with others. Even during her time in the nursing home, Linda never overlooked anyone on her Christmas list.

Her generosity overflowed into everything she did. During the time she worked at Caswell, she took utmost care of her clients. Years after she left her position at the center, Linda still made sure her former clients had all they needed. She went out of her way to be sure they were well cared for and loved.

The time that Linda spent at Greendale Forest was precious to Linda. For years, she “ran” the building, checking in on patients and staff and sharing the latest gossip. She was elected Resident’s Council and maintained her position for several years in a row. With a total of 12 years at Greendale, patients and staff were more like family. No matter what Linda was facing physically during this time, she never complained and was always grateful to be near the ones she loved.

Linda welcomed family and friends into her home and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She always introduced her “in laws” as family and treated them likewise. She was warm-hearted and compassionate, and never turned anyone away. Linda and her sister were always close, and they spoke nearly every day. Her family was her heart. Jewel and Leslie were her whole life, and her great-granddaughter, Marina, was the apple of her eye.

A service to celebrate and remember Linda’s life will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. Linda’s family will receive friends in the hour before the service.

Linda is survived by her loving daughter, Jewel Tilghman and Greg, whom she referred to as her son; granddaughter, Leslie Marie Smith; great-granddaughter, Marina Arielle Smith; and her loving sister, Anne Vincent; her adopted brother, Thurman Vincent; niece, Andrea Hardison; and nephew, Tim Vincent.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
