Obituary for Ralph Haywood Williams

Ralph H. Williams
January 12, 1947-February 27, 2019

Goldsboro-Ralph Haywood Williams, 72, received his call to eternity Wednesday, February 27, 2019. Ralph was born in Wayne County on January 12, 1947, to the late Willie and Thelma Smith Williams. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army.

A true Southerner, Ralph loved his Nascar. He was Richard Petty’s biggest fan and never missed a race. Nothing was better to Ralph than a Sunday afternoon watching his beloved #43. If the television was on during the week, chances are Ralph was watching wrestling.

Ralph was an outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time in his yard. His green thumb helped him to produce a fruitful garden each year filled with tomatoes, cabbage, okra, cucumbers, and all the southern staples. If he wasn’t in the yard, Ralph could be found with a fishing pole in hand.

An employee of Ernest Glass Company for over 42 years, Ralph was dedicated and hardworking. He was a family man and a good provider. He was married to the love of his life, Brenda, for 48 years and was a loving husband. Ralph was a good father and his children looked up to him as their hero. Though a quiet fellow, Ralph’s family always knew and felt his love for them.

A service to honor and remember Ralph’s life will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home. A private interment will take place at Cobb Cemetery.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Edmundson Williams; three children, Amanda Jones, Ralph E. Williams and wife, Susan, and Paul Williams; eight grandchildren, Courtney Williams, McKylia Williams, Joshua Hernandez, Nicholas Hernandez, Breanna Hernandez, Kristopher Clark, Sydney Williams, and Mila Paige Williams; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Gabriel Hernandez; a sister, Joan Drew; and several special nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home.
