Obituary for Raymond Wallace Perry

Raymond W. Perry
May 11, 1934-December 4, 2018

La Grange- Raymond Wallace Perry, 84, of La Grange, was called to his heavenly home on December 4, 2018. Raymond was born on May 11, 1934, in Lenoir County to the late Henry Franklin Perry and Mattie Hinnant Perry. His wife of 26 years, Iris Hill Perry, preceded him in death in 2009.

Known to be a bit stubborn, Raymond liked things his way. He was dedicated to his family and was the ultimate father, grandfather, and husband. Though he greatly loved his children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of his eye.

Nothing was better to Raymond than time spent on the water. He loved fishing, but especially enjoyed floundering. Whether rod or spear in hand, Raymond was content just to be at the coast. If he wasn’t fishing, Raymond could be found cheering on his beloved UNC Tarheels. From basketball to football, Raymond was the Tarheel’s biggest fan. A true conservative at heart, he spent much of his time watching Fox News.

Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Army National Guard as a CWO4. He depended on his faith in the Lord throughout his life. Raymond was a devoted member of Freedom Baptist Church.

A service to honor and remember Raymond’s life will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Friends will be received following the graveside committal service.

Raymond is survived by his children, Wanda Brinson and husband, Anthony, and Gilbert Perry and wife, Toni; grandchildren, Brandon Rouse and wife, Tonya, and Ashley Perry; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Perry, Noah Rouse, and Ava Rouse; siblings, Linda Rutherford, Brinda Potter, and Debra Frye; and the mother of his children, Carole King. In addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sheila Ann Perry, and a brother, Frank Perry.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for Raymond’s caregivers, Janelle Lofton and Linda Hines. Thank you for your love and care of our father.

Memorials in Raymond’s memory may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 300 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530. Online condolences may be expressed at Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home.
