Sallie Perry Hardy
November 30, 1932 – August 17, 2019

Institute-While surrounded by her family, Sallie Perry Hardy, 86, peacefully transitioned from this life to the next on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Sallie’s family finds great comfort in her rejoining her husband, Ray on what would have been their 68th wedding anniversary.

Born in Greensboro, NC on November 30, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Eli Perry and Lillian Savage Perry. Her beloved husband, Ray Mosely Hardy, preceded her in death on June 13, 2001.

Sallie possessed many talents and used them in ways to benefit and bless others. Her needlework and various crafts could be found in the homes of all her family. She was an excellent seamstress providing clothing and window treatments to her children and grandchildren. Whether it was something for herself, family, or a friend, Sallie always had a project going and you knew it was crafted with love.

Sallie’s life revolved around the happiness and well-being of her family. Her children and grandchildren all held their own unique special place in her heart. Family trips to the beach were always a highlight for Sallie. She and Ray made many great memories during their many adventures with family and friends.

Sallie established deep roots in Institute and considered everyone living there a part of her family. She was a longtime, dedicated member of Institute United Methodist Church.

A service to celebrate Sallie’s life will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Linda Grider officiating.

Sallie is survived by her daughters, Linda H. Harrell and husband, George of Snow Hill and Vivian H. Sykes and husband, Danny of Raleigh; granddaughters, Dr. Jessica Harrell and special friend, Chris Bridgers of Morehead City, Ashley Strickland and husband, Cory of the Institute Community, Victoria Sykes of Orlando, FL, and Alexandra Sykes of Raleigh; great-grandson, Hardy Strickland; and a special sister-in-law, Patsy Perry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Perry and her sister, Patricia Jones Perry.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the home of Linda and George Harrell, 513 Sturbridge Drive, Snow Hill, NC 28580. The family will also receive friends Wednesday following the service at the graveside.
