Obituary for Wayne Jackson

Carroll Wayne Jackson, 59, longtime resident of the Beautancus Community, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Wayne was born August 14, 1958 to Nita Jackson and the late Edward Carroll Jackson.

A true lover of the outdoors, Wayne savored the many hours he spent fishing and hunting. Whether standing at the edge of the river, the bank of a pond or in the open water on a boat, the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size, always brought a big smile. Wayne’s love for the outdoors was groomed while walking in his grandfather’s shadow.

Often described as a gentle giant or stronger than an ox, Wayne was someone with a big heart for helping others. He never said no, was an excellent listener and protected those he loved. Wayne truly cared about his family and friends. He was often sought out for good practical advice. His warm sense of humor, positive outlook and tremendous smile were uplifting to everyone with whom he came in contact. A walking miracle, Wayne’s 14-year battle with cancer was an inspiration to family and friends. He believed in living life to the fullest and always being ready to go.

Wayne was a lover of horses. Many great memories and friendships were made while sitting in the saddle. He loved trail riding and training cutting horses. His passion for horses could be seen in the many awards he won during cutting horse competitions.

Whether checking out the crops, his beloved sunflowers or looking the best place to hunt, Wayne loved riding his four wheeler.

Many people have fond memories of Wayne’s work with Beautancus Tree Farm. His larger than life personality made this the ideal place to work during the Christmas season. In earlier years, Wayne farmed, worked with Quinn Wholesale and last worked with the NC Department of Transportation Bridge Department. We rejoice in the many fond memories Wayne gave us.

A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Seven Springs Cemetery.

In addition to his mother, Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathy Price Jackson; step-daughter, Rachel Taylor; three step-grandchildren, Payten, Chase and Jarrett Taylor; son, Dylan Franklin; Kathy’s son, Nelson Tyner and wife, Scarlett; sister, Gaye Brock and husband, Allen; niece, Stacey Langston and husband, Dale, and their children, John Allen and Jolan; along with many special friends.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 1-2 p.m. at Mt. Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to Cures For The Colors, 203 Cox Boulevard, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or Mt. Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mt. Olive, NC 28365.
