Obituary for Janet Lynn Skinner

Janet Lynn Skinner, 62, of Kinston slipped away from the bondage of this world to her eternal reward on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Janet was born on December 11, 1955 in Lenoir County to the late Nathan Willis Skinner and Clara Jones Skinner. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Allen Skinner and a sister, Linda Carol Price.

Janet always had a creative side that emanated from her many crafts and projects. While she loved to color and read, her creativity would take flight when she began to make things on her own. Janet had a love for photography and took pleasure in scrapbooking. No matter what she was working on, Janet maintained a keen focus and was passionate about finishing what she started. Janet was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan.

A long time philosophy of Janet’s was “A lone we can do so little, but together we can do so much”
Though known to be mischievous and a bit rebellious as a child, Janet grew up to have a heart of gold. Her kindness overflowed into her work and she enjoyed the opportunity to serve others. Her considerate heart endeared her to everyone she met. Though unable to attend church on a regular basis, her heart belonged to Jesus Christ.

A service to remember Janet will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 7:00pm at Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 711 Phillips Road Kinston, N.C.

Janet is survived by her sons, Guy Heath and wife, Angela of Grifton, and Barry Heath and wife Jennifer of Kinston; and grandchildren, Skilar, Alison, Clara, and Nicholas Heath; and three siblings, Nathan Kenneth Skinner of Stantonsburg, Joyce S. Grady Hardy and husband Edwin of La Grange, Letha Kay “Ginger” Davis of Kinston; along with several nieces and nephews.
